I often get asked by clients, randoms and interviewers what the best piece of loved advice was that I was given?
Truth is I wasn’t given one specific piece of advice that really made me think “Yep, this is my mantra”.I could literally rabble off a list of words of wisdom that I took on board that have changed my perspective, life and relationships.
It’s why I have Pinterest boards and surround my home, office, blog and social feed with quotes. I literally am in love with words.
So, what is it then? What was my biggest revelation when it came to love, dating and relationships?
Here it is…
The fairy tale does not exist in the form of loving or being loved by man.
That Disney fairy tale that we were subconsciously and consciously fed growing up through books, cartoons and bed time stories is wrong. We aren’t meant to be rescued by a prince charming.
The dragons that exist we must slay, the dark forest that lays before us, we have to navigate. Waiting for a man to swoop in and save you is a lovely notion, but we were created far too strong to ever be weak.
Every relationship I used to get into, I thought it was going to be my last. Every time I dated or fell in love, I put that man on the pedal stool. Which is all fine and dandy till he falls off, and then you realise maybe he was just a frog after all.
We see things the way we want to appear. And then we get sorely disappointed when expectation doesn’t match reality.
But here is my secret. You can still have it all. You can have the REAL happily ever after.
You see the fairy tale is the relationship you have with yourself. And Prince Charming is just a big bonus that adds a whole lot of extra happiness to the picture.
The awesome part is, that it is never too late to start creating your version of your own fairy tale. It is never too late to rescue yourself, learn about love and men and build the love life you were always meant to have.
There is no expiry date on your fairy tale, because as long as you exist, then so does it.
So, take the first step, and let me help you break free from that ivory tower or dark dungeon and move towards to happiness you crave. Your victory is my mission.
